November 9th – Thursday, and 11th – Saturday in Shanghai:
Dennis and I remaining at midnight from LA on Asiana Airways – on a fourteen hour flight by way of Seoul, Korea — Incheon Airport – and on to Shanghai – Pu Dong Airport. With a three hour layover in Seoul -we first acquired a glimpse of the Asian lifestyle, and walked the extended corridor of the Responsibility Free of charge Retailers and stopped in the Wendy Café for latte and tea. When we landed in Shanghai – Mr. Gao Mim satisfied us – with a sign that Ai told me to see – with large letters stating “Dennis and Joan, Welcome to Shanghai”. Delightful to have Mr. Go – who operates for Kobayashi San – and Lilly, who is Chinese – meet up with us and spirit us absent. Our baggage went by vehicle to the lodge – and Dennis, Lilly and I rode the Maglev from the airport to the west aspect of Shanghai – a practice that value nine billions to build by the Chinese Federal government and flew to a maximum of 424 Kilometers over the seven minute journey. They mentioned that it would consider forty five minutes by automobile – with the traffic in the Town – to cross from the river and reach our resort. An Australian sat across from us – and we marveled at the whiz of the practice – and the instantaneous zip of a practice passing in the other path. Off the practice and into a taxi to the hotel, the Ramada positioned in the western side, Pu Xi – the previous part – among the People’s Square and the Bund – the waterfront at the Huangpu River. The 4 of us loved a late lunch in the restaurant, Nan Xinya, on the fourth floor of the lodge – with the round serving in the middle of the desk loaded with Cantonese flavors – which includes a fried fish with a crimson sauce – delightful. Dennis and I napped – and went for a prolonged wander down the Nanjing Rd – the pedestrian avenue powering the hotel – to the Bund – and appreciated the array of colorful lights down the road and on the waterfront – and the blue boat that sailed across our see. It was a gorgeous evening – and the long stroll back again took us to the People’s Square – when we understood that we might gone way too much and retraced our steps. We slept like infants on the agency mattress with the coverlet – and ended up welcomed to China.
November twelfth – Sunday in Shanghai:
We woke to a misty sky – and prepared to fulfill Lilly at 9AM – and very first enjoyed breakfast in the lodge. Lilly took us in the morning to City God Temple Bazaar – and the Yu Backyard garden. The Garden was the home of Mr. Pan, developed in 1559, in the Ming Dynasty. Yard in China includes the trees, plants, rock and properties – and is the house where character is introduced in to be seasoned in the dwelling. We walked the route and via the Chinese buildings – all around the pools – by way of the gateways – and liked the attractiveness of the growth, the numerous turning paths, the circular entry ways – the rocks from the base of the Taihu Lake (one particular of the five greatest new drinking water lakes) with several intriguing shapes from the erosion of the water – piled large – and often with a “tower of contentment” in the clouds (on the rocks) and Exquisite Jade Stone. 5 dragon walls, dragons with a few fingers (for standard people) – a pearl in the dragons mouth – and one with a frog in a sympiotic romantic relationship – and tails that ripple the walls major down the paths. Close to the corner, we exited the Yard into the several shops – and entered the Silk Manufacturing facility – to see how the silk operate spins alone in silk thread inside its cocoon – and is cooked and positioned in drinking water so that with a brush the ladies can stir the cocoons and locate the silk threads. Then six or 8 threads are spun with each other to make the stunning silk thread – and we noticed the bedding and clothes that are usually produced from the fine silks of China. Before, before entering the Yard – we spotted the Nan Xiang Dumpling Cafe with a long line, and Lilly advised us about the yummy crab and pork dumplings. After some buying in the department shop – and hunting at pearl, jade and valuable stones in jewelry – we tried the dumplings, with a little bit of ginger inside – and they had been delightful. We returned to acquire a silk blanket and include in the Silk Factory – and they even experienced “California king”. sat coaching center in lagos Nigeria hurried by taxi to return to the hotel – because Kobayashi San and Gao San were waiting for us for some lunch.
The business van – Fukuoka Knit Company, Kobayashi San’s organization – took us across town – views of the streets of the Town, the tall apartment buildings, the theater and workplace structures for this Town of 16 million folks. We traveled to the Hong District, in close proximity to the Embassies, like the Japanese Embassy. The restaurant was Chizhen in Hong Qiao – and we dined in a modest place – and were shocked by the array of food items on the spherical glass serving piece in the middle of the table – and like the shark fin soup (expensive and a delicacy in China). We changed the strategies for the afternoon – excellent adjust – and from the resort walked up the Nan Jing to Shu Ya Liang Zi – a conventional Chinese therapeutic massage – on the eighth flooring – and all 5 of us sat in the room each and every in our personal reclining chair – with scorching h2o at our toes – and then the foot therapeutic massage, deeply baring into our ft – and ear cleaning, considerably to our surprise. We were nicely rested and massaged and returned to the lodge, fortunately – and Dennis and I stopped in Yong An – the division shop – and I enjoyed purchasing “hair toys” to keep my hair in area – and the lady who showed me how to do this. Lilly taught us to say “Bu Ya Xie Xie” (no thanks) to all the vendors who had been trying to promote us fakes, watches and purses. And also, Bu Xie (thank you). And “Ni Hao” (Mandarin for Hi). That night time we dressed and went to the Ritz Carlton to the Acrobat Show and to the Grape’s Yard on Xinle Rd. for dinner – and experienced our 1st style of the Chinese delicacy of “river crab”. Dennis and I required some classes on how to take in this, and that the element in the middle is considered the greatest. It is all fascinating and a rare encounter to be so generously hosted by people who know Shanghai and it lifestyle, and an addition to my Rotary GSE encounter in Japan with numerous friends there.
